Senator Butler invites you to nominate a participant for her Young Leaders Academy. This “pre-internship program” will provide California’s next generation of leaders with a deeper understanding of the Senate, knowledge of what it’s like to work in public service, and the ability to stand out as an applicant for a congressional internship or other public service opportunities in the future. Participants will join four virtual sessions held throughout the Fall, where they will learn how to access their Senate office, hear from California leaders, develop leadership skills, and foster fellowship among youth across the state. Nominees must commit to attending all four sessions (exceptions will be made for illness or emergency).
This opportunity is geared toward students and graduates aged 18-24 from across California. We aim to provide equity and access by prioritizing individuals who have not had previous experience in a government internship or are unable to travel to a congressional office in person for an internship opportunity. The nominating organization will fill out this application form, and will be considered under the following criteria: community involvement and/or service, interest in learning about Congress and the government, passion for public service, and community engagement.
The deadline to submit applications is Wednesday, July 31 at 5 PM PT. Selections will be made and participants will be notified by Saturday, August 3. We encourage you to share this opportunity with other stakeholders in your network. Please reach out to Denise with any questions.
